Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Release Date, Price, Features, Specs, News and Rumors
In the last couple of days, a storm of rumours has gripped fans and tech gurus alike. It’s being suggested that the next Galaxy Note would be Galaxy Note 7, and it’s likely going to be released in August 2016. A leaked press invitation made its way to the internet with a hashtag and a line, “The next edge is just around the corner”. It looks like Samsung has skipped from Galaxy Note 5, which was unveiled last year, directly to Galaxy Note 7. The reason for the jump could be that Samsung wants the Galaxy Note to put itself in line with the existing Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge lineup. In this post, we are going to share with you, the new features, specs, price and release date of Samsung Galaxy Note 7.
Galaxy Note 7 Design
The Galaxy Note 7 will have a 5.8-inch dual-curve display. It won’t have any variant with a flat display. Samsung has patent the design a couple of months ago so that the Note 7, too can line up with S7 and S7 Edge. The device will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 823 processor which will allow low consumption and faster processing speed.
Note 5 had a 5.7-inch screen and rumoured is that the Note 7 is 5.8-inch. The increased size is likely to be offset by the expected dual curved screen. Although there was another outrageous claim that the upcoming Galaxy Note 7 will have a 6-inch 4K screen. The device will feature a 5/7in Quad-HD Super AMOLED panel.
There has been multiple reports and rumour surrounding the eye scanner that’ll either replace or will provide an alternative to the fingerprint technology. According to several reports, Samsung had filed for the registration of the “Samsung Iris” and “Samsung Eyeprint” trademarks in the European Union. Of course, the company hasn’t confirmed anything, as of yet.
Dust and Water Resistance Capability
Among the exciting features that the device is likely to have, rumours have surfaced that the body of Note 7 will be IP68 certified water resistant. The device will be able to withstand being submerged into one and a half meters of water for about an hour. At this point it’s worth mentioning that the device is IP68 certified dust resistant too, making the Galaxy Note 7 the first one in the series to offer dust- and water-resistance.
A Weibo source has said that the camera will be a 12-megapixel with Super OIS Plus. Another source too claimed that the Note 7 would get a 12-megapixel camera in rear and 5-megapixel front snapper. Earlier this year Samsung had incorporated a 12-megapixel camera in Galaxy S7 so it only makes sense that the Note 7 will feature a decked up version of the same camera. We’ve also heard of a 20-megapixel camera, but the hype isn’t something new. Every time a Samsung device launches someone pipes up and says a 20-megapixel is down the line.
The latest rumour suggests that Note 7 will come with dual lens camera. It’s worth pointing out that the dual lens camera is also rumoured to appear in the upcoming iPhone 7 Plus.
The Galaxy Note 7 will be equipped with USB Type-C. Perhaps Samsung wants its new release to be compatible to a new Gear VR. Since the present version of the Gear VR comes with a micorUSB port, we think the second model will come out with USB Type-C connector. Meaning you can connect the Gear VR with Note 7. The Note 7 will feature a USB Type-C and is likely going to support USB Power Delivery 2.0. It’ll help the device to charge faster.
Samsung Gear VR
One argument for keeping the previous microUSB port in the Galaxy S7 smartphone is that it’ll work with the popular Gear VR headset, which uses the same port to connect to the phone. It’s worth mentioning that the original Samsung VR will not work with the expected USB-C of Galaxy Note 7. So we think there’s a new Gera VR model coming out. Samsung recently said that they are working on a standalone virtual reality headset that will not require you to your Smartphone’s screen. The company also stated that it’s probably a bit early to see the model.
Processor and RAM
The device is likely to have any one of the two processors – the Exynos 8890 and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 823. It’s possible that the two variations of the device will have the two processors. One of the main highlights of the phone is that it features a 6GB of RAM that is sure to deliver excellent performance.
The Note 7 will probably run on Android N out of the box. Earlier this year, well ahead of the usual Google I/O debut, the Android N Developer Preview was announced. But we feel that there’s no saying that the operating system will come out so soon. And even if it does, the upcoming Android N will probably be reserved for the Nexus line. So when OS is likely to appear in the smartphones in late 2016 or late 2017.
Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Edge: Rumour or True?
Samsung hasn’t released an Edge version of the Galaxy Note since 2014. The rumour mill has predicted that the company is planning to release a Galaxy Note 7 Edge. The leaked renders have a dual-edge screen like S7 Edge.

Galaxy Note 7 Price
Samsung will try to keep the device price competitive. It probably wouldn’t be too affordable because the device belongs to high-end smartphone category. Based on the cost of the previous model, the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is likely going to cost around $950.
Galaxy Note 7 Release Date
According to various news reports, the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 will be launched on 2nd August in New York. Although the claim contradicts with another one that says the device is going to come out on 15th August. The official release date is yet to come out, but we are almost sure that the Note 7 will be released in August 2016.
Update as of 25th July 2016
Samsung has already sent press invitations for their upcoming 2nd August event in which it will officially launch the much-awaited Galaxy Note 7 and Note 7 Edge. As per reports Galaxy Note 7 is likely to have a smaller battery than the Galaxy S7 Edge, and it would sport a beautiful Irish scanner as well. The smartphone will go directly on sale on the same day it’s unveiled, and it’s likely to create a havoc in the global Smartphone market for sure.
